CREATING AND EXPORTING ANIMATIONS ON NAVISWORKS.

Step 1: Creating Viewpoints for animation.
Under the Viewpoint tab on the main toolbar, you can create various viewpoints for your fly-through, focussing on different parts of the building at different times in the simulation. Set up your view, and then click on the ‘Save Viewpoint button’. The Saved Viewpoints bar will open up on the right showing you the different viewpoints you have saved.

After you have a few viewpoints saved, you can create the animation.
Step 2: Creating Animation and linking to Simulation
Go to the Animator tab, and set up your first view.
Click the ‘Record’ Button, and click on your different views in the order you wish them to appear. After you finish, click the stop button. Your animation is now saved on the right. Click on it and delete the Cut buttons that appear in the drop- down under it. This will ensure a smooth transition between views.

Now we link the simulation to the newly created animation. Under the simulate tab, click the ‘Settings’ button. In the subsequent dialog, set up your playback duration (for a smooth animation, it’s important that you set your playback duration to reflect the length of your animation.) and then in the ‘Animation’ drop down menu, select ‘Saved Viewpoints Animation.’.

Now every time you play the simulation under the simulate tab, it follows the animation you created.
Step 3: Render and Export

Under the Render tab, Set your Render Quality under the ‘Ray Trace’ button. You can Render it for any time between a few seconds to overnight. A decent quality is the ‘Coffee Break’ or the ‘Lunch Break’ quality that renders for 10 minutes and 1 hour respectively.

Now under the Animator tab, click ‘Export Animation’. In the corresponding dialog, Select the Source as ‘Timeliner Simulation’ , the Renderer as ‘Autodesk’ and the Format as ‘Windows AVI”. Alternatively, you can also export the animation as a series of jpegs.

For a smooth animation, change the framerate to 12 frames per second (fps). Click OK. The Render will take time, but your animation is ready!
